Aerospace original equipment manufacturer Ontic has launched a CargoCare family of maintenance, repair and operations services to help freighter operators keep their aircraft flying and maintenance costs under control.
The first offering in the CargoCare portfolio is an Exchange & Overhaul programme for Boeing 747 leading edge flap drive units, a component operators have found difficult to turn around quickly when an unexpected removal occurs.
When an operator removes a leading edge flap drive unit and sends it to Ontic, a serviceable replacement is immediately dispatched from an exchange pool, cutting exchange times to as little as 48 hours, says Ontic. The removed unit is then overhauled at Ontic’s MRO facility in Tewkesbury, UK, and returned to the pool, creating a continuous rotation of ready units for customers on the programme.
Customers can choose between a dedicated or shared exchange pool, giving coverage without unnecessary inventory. The programme also offers flat-rate overhaul costs, an extended warranty, flexible commercial terms, and support from Ontic hubs across the Americas, Europe, and Asia.
The 747 leading edge flap drive programme is the first of several planned CargoCare offerings. Ontic intends to extend the model to further platforms and parts as it continues to grow and invest in its MRO portfolio.
