Silk Way West Airlines has flown 100 yaks 2,000 kilometres from Kyrgyzstan to Azerbaijan for a wildlife reintroduction project. Experts at the Baku-based all-cargo airline accepted the challenge of moving the herd from Bishkek Manas International to Baku Heydar Aliyev International for transport by truck to their new pastures by truck.
The carrier’s extensive experience includes alpacas, kangaroos, dogs, horses and European bison, all in an air-conditioned and ventilated environment. The yaks were transported in special cages designed to ensure that they were not exposed to any risk of injury during the flight and remained under veterinary supervision throughout their journey.
