Aerospace specialist B&H moves Auckland base

Aerospace and aviation logistics specialist B&H Worldwide has relocated its Auckland, New Zealand warehouse in. The new site is close to the city’s airport, and has a dedicated team to streamline customs clearance processes.

Station manager, Lee Hedges, said: “Our new warehouse will provide us with the infrastructure and capabilities to further enhance our service offerings and meet the evolving needs of the aerospace and aviation industry.”

Established in 1988 in the UK, B&H now operates from ten aerospace hubs around the world and has a customer base which includes airlines, spare part stockists, MROs and repair vendors.

Europe launch for FedEx Surround

Federal Express has launched its FedEx Surround portfolio for shipment monitoring and intervention in Europe. Already available in some Asian markets, it isbeing made available to customers in the healthcare sector in the UK, Ireland, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxemburg, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, and Switzerland. Other European markets and sectors will follow by the end of 2024 and in early 2025.

FedEx Surround predicts potential disruptions in the shipping process, allowing FedEx and its customers to swiftly make informed decisions. Three levels of service – Select, Preferred, and Premium –support a industries including healthcare, aerospace, automotive, and high-tech, providing critical updates and interventions that ensure the integrity and timely delivery of sensitive shipments.

A Surround dashboard provides near real-time global visibility with predictive analytics using machine learning. 

Prioritised boarding and handling, cold chain support and in- and out-of-network intervention are available with dedicated teams at hubs, ramps, and stations, including customized reporting.

New SF Express center to speed Singapore service

SF Express Singapore has officially opened an airside logistics center at SATS Core A warehouse in Changi Airfreight Centre. It will optimize export and import operations and give faster turnaround times with on-airport processing time expected to be reduced from 4-6 hours to 1½-2 hours.

Since its establishment in 2010, SF Express Singapore has built a local distribution network covering the entire island, with over 100 owned vehicles and a professional logistics team. It has also enhanced its local distribution and cross-border express service in Singapore and Southeast Asia.

Globe Air to represent Air Serbia in US

ECS general sales agency (GSA) arm Globe Air Cargo is to represent Air Serbia’s cargo services in the US. Under this agreement. It will manage sales and marketing for 60 tons of weekly freight capacity on five A330 flights between New York (JFK) and Chicago (ORD) to Belgrade (BEG). The service provides connections to other European destinations, including Bosnia, Montenegro, Albania, North Macedonia, Zurich and Istanbul. The partnership also includes road feeder service across the US to New York and Chicago.

Air Canada enhances Heathrow cool chain

Air Canada Cargo has opened an upgraded cold chain facility in London Heathrow. It features nearly 900 square feet of temperature-controlled areas to full industry standards for shipments such as pharmaceuticals, fresh food and other perishables.

Air Partner appoints cargo SVP

Aviation services provider, Air Partner – a Wheels Up company – has appointed Eliska Hill as senior vice president of Cargo for UK and rest of the world. She has previously held senior positions at Chapman Freeborn in the UK and UAE, along with other cargo carriers and brokers including Emirates and Air Charter International. Prior to joining Air Partner, her most recent role was chief commercial officer at European Cargo.

Changi opens Nexus One

Changi Airport Group has opened its refurbished Changi Nexus One air logistics facility within Singapore’s Changi Airfreight Centre with close on 8,000sq m (86,000sq ft) of warehousing space. The facility, which has direct apron access, is designed for two tenants. It will increase Changi Airport’s logistics warehouse capacity prior to the completion of the Changi East Industrial Zone in the mid-2030s. Expeditors, the world’s seventh largest air freight forwarder has already committed to take space in the facility.

Challenge completed – two more 767Fs for all-cargo carrier

Challenge Group has completed its 767 conversion program with the deployment of two newly converted B767-300 freighters.

They bring the total number of B767-300BDSF aircraft in the Group’s fleet to four, each with a capacity of  52 tons and 400 cubic meters, reinforced floors and wide cargo doors.

They have already enabled the launch of a new service to Delhi in early October in addition to the three existing weekly frequencies to Mumbai. The new freighters also free up capacity on the 747 aircraft, allowing for increased long-haul destinations between Europe, the Far East and the US. Challenge Group is now operating a total of 10 aircraft.

Lights, camera – U-Freight!

U-Freight Group has helped Airport Authority Hong Kong produce a video promoting the gateway as an e-commerce hub.

‘Hong Kong International Airport – The e-commerce fulfilment hub in Asia’ is part of a campaign to highlight its advantages as a global logistics centre.

Parts of the video were filmed at U-Freight subsidiary e+Solutions’ eCommerce Logistics Centre at Chuen Kei Industrial Centre in Kwai Chung. Airport stakeholders shared insights into how Hong Kong’s capabilities support international commerce.

Awery’s Flightcare wins Hackathon award

Awery Aviation Software (Awery) was awarded the Developer Prize at IATA’s ONE Record Hackathon in Istanbul on 14 October for its Flight Care solution for communication issues between airlines and third-party providers.

Participants were tasked with developing a solution to enable real-time updates between airlines, ground handling agents (GHAs), and ramp agents, to avoid delays and improve air cargo handling efficiency.

Awery’s Flight Care solution uses IATA’s ONE Record Data Sharing Standard to enable stakeholders to share critical shipment data in real-time.

Judges praised Awery’s solution for its practical application of the ONE Record standard, helping to solve a major issue in air cargo logistics by ensuring better data synchronisation between stakeholders.

Developed over 28 hours, Flight Care was designed to allow each party to input, update, and track operational milestones in real time, based on the Cargo iQ MOP 4.0 guidelines.
